It is time to begin the workparties to prepare the property for the upcoming play season. Remember, many hands make light work. We need your help to keep the property operating.

As always, bring a lunch, a pair of sturdy work gloves, and dress for the weather. Tools you may have specific to the listed tasks are most welcome. We will start work at approx. 10am and work until dark or when our energy runs out. Dinner will be provided depending on attendance and interest.

The following workparties are planned.

• Saturday, February 3rd - Tasks include cleanup and roof repair of a leak in the dormitory caused by a tree strike during the winter storms. We will be working on the roof to effect the repair and cleaning up some damaged sheetrock inside. There are also misc clean-up tasks for storm debris.
• Saturday, February 17th - Tasks include working on the new disabled/elderly access trail. We will also be cleaning up tree that's being removed stage left in the theatre. Please come down to the theater area for your work assignments.
• Saturday, March 10th - Spring cleaning of the Cabin kitchen, dormitory, and bathrooms in preparation for the start of the play season. Clear out, clean, and organize the pantry. Create inventory to be used for buying consumables for the season. More disabled/elderly access trail work.

We will be holding the September workparty at Kitsap on the 16th and 17th. Work will begin about 10am and continue until the energy runs out. Please bring a lunch, work gloves, boots and dress for the weather.

Here are the tasks on the slate;

• Finishing the prep work on one end of Cascade Dorm for sheetrocking.
• Clean the moss off Toutle's (building with the flush toilets) roof to prepare for re-roofing
• Re-stack the dry firewood in the woodshed to make room for new
• Split some of the rounds and stack in the woodshed
• Clean the grease and mildew off the kitchen walls around the stove
• Repair the insulation in the pump-house
• Dig the post hole for the new driveway sign
• Skilled carpentry for finishing work on Caretaker's cabin including hanging interior doors, installing trim, finish kitchen counter tops.

• Roof sweeping if it is dry.
• Cleaning of the gutters on the back of the woodshed and the cabin.
• Dealing with any wood and construction debris around caretakers; cutting it up and putting it in the dumpster.
• Moving all the bunks from the small side of Cascade dorm to the large side, and then remove and cut up the wood paneling in preparation for sheetrock installation. This will result in the creation of a small heated and insulated meeting space for Kitsap Branch use in the winter months! So this is a task we???re greatly interested in accomplishing.

Another beautiful morning writing in front of the campfire. It???s a little cooler this morning, but still comfortable with just a tee-shirt, jeans, and a hot cup of coffee. The weather report looks like there may be a little rain later today. It???s been a good run so far.

Things have slowed considerably on the volunteer front. It was just Mark and Jamie for most of days 4 and 5. Mary came by yesterday afternoon and started to put Toutle back together by replacing the stall doors and rehanging hooks. Mark and Jamie finished the sheetrock on the ceiling in the dormitory and hung new and improved lighting. Materials were also purchased for door and window casings. We are using 1 by x Fir to make simple casings. They are cheap, easy, and give the cabin a rustic country look. We can have volunteers sand and oil the material today.

We have more painting to do in the Caretaker's exterior and the aforementioned oiling. Also, there is a bunch of clean up from the weeks work. We could really use a bunch of people today. It's Saturday, after all. No day jobs to interfere. See you later.

Once more enjoying a quiet morning at Kitsap. Mark Jensen arrived last night after driving all the way from Bozeman, MT. He just spent 4 weeks as a Project Manager on a build for the Red Feather Development Group. A very worthy organization. Check them out. Mark brings many skills that we will need inside Caretakers. but for the evening it's dinner and relaxation.

The pace was a little slower yesterday. Cliff cleaned the floor in Toutle and Doug came by later in the day and etched it with acid preparation for painting. Jamie pulled the new water pipe and connected it to the water system, so there is now water to Caretakers.

We conducted interviews of two caretakers candidates last evening at Kitsap Cabin. Each was well qualified and very personable. Both candidates impressed the interview crew. The Kitsap/Players Committee will decide between the two candidates very soon.

This day holds some taping and muding of drywall and painting the floor in Toutle. We will also assemble more cabinets if we gat a body to help. Could it be you? Maybe...
